Roger L. Henson

	Roger L. Henson, age 54, of Du Quoin, passed away Saturday morning, July 31, 2004 at 1:05 a.m. at his home.
	Roger was born in Du Quoin on March 5, 1950, the son of Newell and Myrtle (Smith) Henson.  He was united in marriage October 19, 1996 to Janet Whetstone and she survives.  Roger worked as a welder for Prestige Trailers and was a member of the First Apostolic Church of Pinckneyville.  He enjoyed crafts, carpentry and was an avid Raiders Fan.  Roger loved helping others, country music and dancing and was a devoted husband and father.
	He is survived by his wife Janet of Du Quoin; one son, Kyle E. Henson of Du Quoin;  three brothers, Herschel and wife Mary of Ocala, Fla., Jerry and wife Rosemary of Du Quoin and Rodney Henson, also of Du Quoin; two sisters, Shirley Archer and husband Roy of Du Quoin and Janice Lestz of Dowell; two half-brothers, Tom Henson and wife Kathy of Du Quoin and Bill Henson and wife Linda of Marissa; five step-brothers, Fred Taylor and wife Harriet of Sesser, Jack Taylor and wife Linda of Du Quoin, Rick Taylor and wife Teddy of Du Quoin, Paul Taylor, also of Du Quoin and Elston 'Joe Joe' Taylor of Houston, Tex.; five step-sisters, Dianna Reidleberger and husband Maurice, Cathy Porter, Debbie Taylor and Vickie Talyor, all of Du Quoin and Tina Bunce of Gillette, Wyo.; mother-in-law, Leona J. Whetstone; brother-in-law, Glen Whetstone of Du Quoin; three sisters-in-law, Joyce Halsted and husband Bob of Pinckneyville, Melody Bostick and husband Curtis, also of Pinckneyville and Kim Hanks and husband Clay of Tamaroa and many nieces and nephews.  Roger was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Norma (Leathers) Henson; two sisters, Linda Lou and Catherine Louise Henson; a half-brother, Newell Roger Henson Jr.  and a brother-in-law, Gene Whetstone.
	Funeral services were Wednesday, August 4 at 11 a.m. in the Pyatt-Harrawood & Epplin Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Leonard Glover officiating.  Interment was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Du Quoin.
	Friends called at the Pyatt-Harrawood & Epplin Funeral Home in Du Quoin on Tuesday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 8 am. until time of services.
	Memorials may be made to the Kyle Henson College Fund.
